interesting quote about financialization

Filed under: Uncategorized — arrowsmith @ 1:54 pm

The best and brightest went into finance because… it paid better than every other profession. So we had this whole generation of people — who would have been great scientists, great doctors, great creators of other things — attracted to a business which ultimately only provided, to a substantial degree, toxic waste. And that is the tragedy of our time. … It was this diversion of enormous amounts of talent.

Another thoughts about paying for college. yada yada yada.   Come on guys, get a clue.  We have a bunch of folks trying to get into college.  The brightest,  and they have to get a loan because they aren’t numero 1 or numero 2.   And if your 1 and 2, room and board are still not included.  So stay at home daddy says.  What a way to experience the richness of the soulful mind staying at home.  So what does Bill and Melinda  Gates foundation spend.   Poor and needy for education.   The middle class and upper class are on their own.   Hey Bill, guess where these folks are going to work, yes Big Old USA but since they have learned that the US wants only there money.  If these brightest finds an answer; they will probably go out of the country since thecountry and businesses who don’t care much about them.

I wish the great generation would have learned this 18 yrs ago and promoted more education to the top 10% of high school  rather than just creating  greed for themselves by looking for the cheapest cost structure

Dell Vostro A90 wireless problem and sound problem

Filed under: Uncategorized — arrowsmith @ 11:05 pm

I came across the problem of using the A90 in WPA2 with password (AES) and  the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.   One of my clients had problem.   I reinstalled the version and update but the error remained. The system worked with no password. The A90 has a the bios is v.04

There are many fixes including updating the drivers or change the program. I did not want to run an ndiswrapper.

I migrated to version 8.10 and of course use the dell version.  I had problem installing this until i went and installed 9.10.

A good site to read on things is the link below.

http://www.ubuntumini.com/2009/03/ubuntu-904-jaunty-jackalope-beta-on.html

all versions are available here http://linux.dell.com/files/ubuntu/.

There are two drives  dell wmi hotkey driver and broadcom STA driver.   I love econ so I used a search on the Hayek vs Keynes you tube video and the with the dell the system was lagging. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0nERTFo-Sk.  I did test on another system and had the better results with the broadcom.

I had some errors.  one was the key ring problem with the public key for the launchpad.net/dell-team  site. After a few search. this is what you do.  goto launchpad.net and search for dell-team

in there you will find the key. copy this to a file on your pc and then launch the software sources authentications and add import it in.

IE 8 problems

Filed under: Uncategorized — arrowsmith @ 9:21 am

I was excited at the notion of making PDFs from Internet Explorer 8, as I’m always doing screen captures of my concert ticket confirmations and bill payments and the like. I was initially horrified by an “Access Denied” error message I would get during the process, but after digging around for a while, I discovered that it is necessary to temporarily disable “Protected Mode” in my “Internet Options” on the “Security” tab in order to complete the conversion. I think a more informative error message would have been nice, but it was worth the trouble of figuring it out. What an awesome timesaver web-to-PDF is for me!  - from John P Sullivan

marketwatch blog

I was reading some of the blog an I came across one of them that I thought was interesting.

from Stclark

“Here’s the cold hard TRUTH from a FORMER staunch Republican and I know there’s a bunch of you out there who don’t want to hear this, but if you really care about saving your party, you might want to pay attention.

I quit the Republican party as soon as McCain and the Republicans in congress kicked the taxpayers to the curb and voted for that massive 700 billion dollar bail out bill. I remain a strong CONSERVATIVE, but the Republican party has abandoned millions of people just like me and we simply returned the favor on election day.

The NEO CONES like Bush, Chaney, Hannity and Limbaugh have hijacked the Republican party and transformed it into a big spending, war making, Constitution ignoring, government bailout loving, fear mongering party with nothing left to offer voters except constant fear of terrorism, massive debt, dead and maimed soldiers, declining standards of living and world wide disrespect & hatred.

The only reasons given for people to vote for these Republicans (pretending to be “conservatives”) is that pro abortion Democrats will tax the rich and should you decide to leave your home to vote for anyone who’s not a Republican, the terrorist hiding in your yard will likely get you when you return. Sorry, but that’s not enough to secure my vote.

The Republicans have abandoned so many conservative principles, that not only are they the minority party, they’ve now been voted into total irrelevance. Whats left of their party will likely take years, if not decades to rebuild and unless Democrats do something major stupid, they’ll likely be in power for a very long time.

If you really want to save the Republican party, run on a platform of restoring the US Constitutional rights removed by George Bush. Make sure you stand for enforcing the Bill of Rights for EVERY US CITIZEN. Run on slashing wasteful government programs, securing our borders and enforcing our laws. Run on reducing the size of government and really do it. Punish and remove corruption from the government, regardless of where it’s found. Run on ending government bailouts and let markets freely function so investors can have some sense of how the market should react based on leading economic indicators, instead of random government intervention with phony money. Run based on having a strong military that’s seldom used, and then only to defend this nation, not to start preemptive wars against nations who haven’t even attacked us…. in short, obey the US Constitution you’ve been sworn to uphold! I think you get the idea.

In conclusion, Ron Paul is one of the very few remaining bright spots still left in the Republican Party and unless major changes are made quickly, he should probably quit and join the Constitution Party, like many former Republicans, myself included, have already done. Sorry for going on soooo LONG guys, please forgive….”
